The ocean rowing boats are participating vessels in the sport of ocean rowing which dates back to 1890’s. Frank Samuelson and George Harbo were the first rowers to cross the Atlantic Ocean when starting from New York and heading towards the British Isles of Scilly in 1896.

John Fairfax was the first person to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1969 when he took off from Gran Canaria heading towards Florida. Amyr Klink in 1984 was the first rower to cross the south Atlantic from Namibia to Brazil. The first Atlantic rowing race as we know it today was launched in 1997 by Chay Blyth which made ocean rowing a mainstream sport. Ocean rowing boats as used in the races are divided into several sizes, in particular singles, doubles or fours and can hold between 1-14 passengers.
