The SS Rex was an Italian ocean liner launched in 1931. It held the westbound Blue Riband between 1933 and 1935. She was thought to be one of the most beautiful ships of the time especially the outdoor swimming pools and lido areas.
On 8 September 1944, the SS Rex was hit by rockets launched from an RAF aircraft. She caught fire and sank in shallow water. The SS Rex ship was broken up in 1947.
